About Me

Hi, I'm Gabbie! I'm 22 years old and I live in sunny southern California. I'm originally from upstate New York, and lived there my entire life until I turned 21. I had an opportunity to up and move across the country so I took it, and am so glad I did. California is amazing! The weather is just beautiful year round, you can get to the ocean, mountains, or desert easily, plus there are no snowstorms haha! Anyways I'm a total foodie, which is why I wanted to start this blog and have a place for all my recipes/creations :) I can be very creative and even scrapbook old photos and things believe it or not! Very Martha I know lol. Since moving I'm finding that I love being out on the sail boats and helping with race committee at our yacht club. Any excuse to get on the water, I'll take it! I love spending time with friends and family, although since the majority of them I left back on the east coast, I'm meeting new people in Orange County everyday.

I've been a semi-vegetarian since I was 14 years old because of health reasons. I suffered from a severe digestive issue that caused me to be able to hardly eat anything without becoming sick. Meat, dairy, fried foods, spicy foods, you name it and I was in a world of pain. I decided to try and cut out meat, and it seemed to help a bit although I still consumed fish with no problems. When I was 18, my mother, a nurse of 30+ years, found an amazing nutritional cleansing program that she just couldn't believe how it was changing people's lives. Reluctantly, I gave it a shot. I used the products and cleansed daily for about a month or two and noticed that I was no longer having stomach pain! The program being very healitive, helped my body clear out the toxic junk and replenish and repair it. It's been 4 years since I first went on the program and have not looked back. I can honestly say that after years of suffering, I no longer have any of those digestive issues, and can enjoy food and cooking thoroughly! I felt so amazing from these products that I am now a Nutritional Health Coach with the company, and I help people reach their personal health and financial goals whatever they may be, and I love it! Here's my site if anyone is interested in checking it out :)

Even though I fixed my health problems, I remain a semi-vegetarian to this day, still eating fish on occasion. However, I cook a lot of vegan meals and eat a lot of raw foods for the best possible nutrition. My passion has always been baking, and I love trying new healthy desserts and sweets you won't feel guilty about eating! I went to college for Forensic Chemistry, but 3 years in decided it was Nutrition I really loved. I once considered going to Culinary school, but didn't like the idea of being rushed to cook orders and not taking my time and enjoying it. I realized I was more interested in the biochemistry of our bodies and how we function with proper nutrition. Realizing that the east coast nutrition programs were primarily pharmaceutical driven, I decided to move west to further my education with the more natural/holistic approaches offered here. I'm currently applying to finish my degree in Natural Health Medicine and am so glad I made the decision!!

So that's my health journey turned education and professional journey! Since I've been in Cali I've adopted a dog named Ollie! He's part Border Collie and part Spaniel mix. I just love his brindle coloring! He's very timid and shy since he was a rescue, but he's coming around and isn't so fearful anymore.

As for my family, most of them are on the east coast still. My dad and four siblings are scattered from Florida to New York to Maryland and Connecticut. My mom, her husband, and grandfather also moved out here to California a few years ago. My best girlfriends are all still back in upstate as well, but makes for fun traveling!!

Last but not least is my amazing boyfriend, Joe. He lives in Brooklyn which stinks, but hopefully not for long! I'm converting him to the Cali lifestyle lol ;)

He also adopted an adorable rescue pup recently, named Bear!

That's pretty much me in a nutshell! Can't wait to start sharing culinary creations with everyone and seeing all the amazing posts! If anyone has any questions or just wants to reach me, you can e-mail me here ;)
